How far in advance should I book?
For popular cars (Creta, Thar, Thar Roxx, Innova), book 3–7 days in advance. For peak season (December–January, April–May) and long weekends, book 2–3 weeks ahead. Same-day booking is possible for available cars with sufficient notice.

No hidden charges. The daily rate is exactly what you pay per day. Fuel is your responsibility. Tolls are your responsibility. No km charges, no night charges, no holiday surcharges, no cleaning charges (car is already machine-washed before delivery).
What payment methods are accepted?
UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM), credit card, debit card, net banking, and cash. All accepted. No payment app is required — we adapt to whatever works for you.
Is GST included in the price?
Yes — GST is included in all quoted prices. No surprise tax addition at checkout.
Documents Required
What documents do I need to rent a self drive car?
Indian citizens: (1) Valid Indian Driving Licence (not Learner’s), (2) Aadhaar card or government ID. Foreign nationals: (1) Valid International Driving Permit (IDP), (2) Passport with valid Indian visa. That’s all. No credit card mandatory. No security deposit.
Is a credit card mandatory?
No. North East Rental is one of very few car rental agencies in Guwahati that does not require a credit card. UPI payment or cash advance is fully accepted.
My driving licence is from another state. Can I still rent?
Yes. A valid driving licence issued by any Indian Regional Transport Office (RTO) is accepted. There is no state restriction.

Routes and Permitted Areas
Can I drive to Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland in a rented car?
Yes — to all 8 Northeast states. Our cars are fully permitted. For ILP-required states (Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram), we provide free ILP assistance. The ILP will include your vehicle registration number as well.
Is there a kilometre limit per day?
No. Truly unlimited kilometres. Drive 50 km or 600 km in a day — the daily rate is the same. Guwahati to Tawang and back is 1,080 km. You pay the same daily rate. This is our fundamental promise.
Can I take the car outside Northeast India (to Kolkata, Siliguri)?
Please inform us at booking. Our cars are primarily permitted for Northeast India and West Bengal (on request). Contact us directly for outstation routes beyond Northeast India.
Fleet and Car Condition
How old are the cars in North East Rental’s fleet?
All cars in our fleet are less than 3 years old. We regularly rotate our fleet to ensure you always get a modern, well-maintained vehicle. Every car is OBD-diagnosed at our own garage before each rental.
Are the cars serviced regularly?
Yes — our own in-house garage with full OBD diagnostic equipment. Every car is serviced on schedule, checked before and after each rental, and machine-washed before delivery. We don’t outsource maintenance to third parties.
What if the car breaks down during my trip?
24×7 roadside assistance. Call or WhatsApp us at any time. We cover all Northeast states. If the breakdown is due to mechanical fault (not driver error), we will arrange a replacement car or assist with repair — at no cost to you.
